Hola mi hijo,
Well lots of things are happening!! Last week we had the elders over to teach a lesson to Calixta’s friends. It went well. Since the Elders actually brought some other elders that were able to give a good charla. The elders that usually teach are from my ward and they don’t seem to get along and one of them is so greenie that the message is not being conveyed. Also the fact that there are about 4 teenage girls that are busy talking makes matters worse, I think. Especially your sister who talks a lot, But anyway that brought a season elder who has been on his mission for 21 months. It was real cool… or should I say way cool!!!! He really conducted a good lesson with focus on prayer and Jesus Christ. They taught the lesson on the 3 kingdoms. Also Christina was given a web site to look which contained a lot of anti-Mormon stuff. Like “black people will be servants in the celestial Kingdom”, Women will only be needed to produce “spiritual babies”. Lots of stuff I had not heard about. She had pages printed out. They were given to her by a friend who was excommunicated from the cherish for being a lesbian….reliable source, huh? Elder Soward handled it real well and the meeting turned out to be a very spiritual meeting,. She still wants to be baptized but has to wait 6 months because her parents will throw her out of the house if she gets baptized before then The other friend Kaneshia talked to her mother about getting baptized and was told to read this book by another ex-Mormon who is writing the truth about the church. Seem like Satan is really working hard on these girls. All that I advice them to do is to pray about it and go with the feeling they receive from their prayers. So we had another lesson today and they watched a video. Their next lesson will be 23 of the month. As we will be busy next week.
Andrew is getting married!!! Can you believe that? He is not working and trying to join the army but he has run into some set backs. So he will probably not go til May and so I told him if you are going then why don’t you wait til June and see You, so I think that is what he will do. What he will do for money I have no idea! But Oh well. The wedding will be at Cathy’s house and we will be having 6ft subway for dinner and cake and punch. Andrew is wearing his greens and Shawnee got prom dress that is very cute. So we got mostly all thing covered. Pretty simple.
Shawnee’ dad is coming form Utah and maybe an uncle and aunt. Ciria has a ticket and she is coming also. Grandma and Grandpa Nield are coming. And all of us those that’s about 20 people. Dan is angry at Andrew so there shall be a chill in the air, but oh well.
Did you get to see the Olympic opening? The elders out here were given permission to see the opening cos it was in SaltLake. It was great. Really concentrated on the family and children’s dreams it was really good. I am trying to get a tape of it so you can see it when you get home. Hopefully they will come out with one before you get home.
I am still working and doing my own things I guess, Calixta is on a diet and loosing weight for Prom. So far she has lost 9 pounds in one week. She is hoping to loose 40 pounds by April and 50 by May. She runs every day and is doing well. I hope she will continue. She looks a whole lot better just loosing 9 pounds. I worry about her cos I keep thinking she will be diabetic if she doesn’t take care of herself. Talk about being ill Cathy’s new baby Breck had to go to the hospital this last Thursday and he was only there over night. He had some kind of a virus called RSV which effects the lungs. He received a blessing and he got better fast. So he went home the next day.
Life is same all the time around here we just working and babysitting. Lots of grandkids to look after.
I babysat Summer Daye Thursday when Cathy and Vallen were at the hospital and she sure is cute…she really loves your dad and she loves to tease him. This time Dad teased her and she got scared. She likes to come over and eat the candy dad has hidden in his room. She knows his hiding places. Anyways she was eating candy and dad said to her “you know Summer Daye grandpa lost all his teeth cos he ate so much candy” and she said “you did?, is that why you wear dentures” Dad said “Yes” and he took out his dentures and showed them to her. She then said “that’s cos you ate candy?” He said “No it’ cos I didn’t brush my teeth and they rotted!” She then screamed and ran to the trash can and spit her candy out and ran to me and was crying “Grandma I need my ToothBrush , I need to brush my teeth, hurry grandma.” I had to call Calixta as she was at the store and we bought her two toothbrushes! I thought she was upset cos her mom and dad were gone but it was cos your dad scared her. It was kinda of funny afterwards, she did cry til we told her Calixta bought her a tooth brush…Blues Clues with bubble gum toothpaste. Funny Huh?
Then on Friday nite I baby sat Kristy’ s kid while they went to the movies. That was fun. I always enjoy the kids…Zachary bounces off the walls. And Tonia loves to harass him and make him mad. And Zeke is great …we call him Moose. He is a big kid and loves to be held and kissed. He loves Kristy very much. He is our miracle baby. And he has a very special spirit.
Well I gotta go I look forward to your next letter. We really enjoy hearing about yur surroundings and the people you are teaching especially since we are hearing the lessons. We love ya dearly and are very proud of you.
